My Top 10 PS2 Games Ever: Top 6-10 revealed!

Time to bring out the geek (as if its not already out) in me. Now being a owner of current-gen consoles, I believe that I have already closed the chapter of the last-gen of gaming in my life. I own a PS2 (two PS2s in fact) and its probably the console I had most fun with yet. So here is what I think are the TOP 10 PS2 games ever.


10. Kingdom Hearts II

I don't know if you don't know this yet. I'm not very big on RPGs but there are exceptions. Just to give you an inkling on how much I am not a fan of RPGs. This will be the last SquareSoft/Square-Enix game in the list.

Kingdom Hearts, you play as Sora together with Donald Duck and Goofy to travel to different worlds (disney worlds) to team up with different disney heroes and heroines and combat darkness!

Anyhoo. well what can you possibly hate about the game? Square made it and they put in Final Fantasy Characters in it. And Disney put in a lot of there characters in there too. Although the story gets fucked up in 2, I really like the gameplay. Travel to different disney worlds to team up with different disney characters! Whats not to like? ARIEL! yes the little mermaid stage was a bit off the hook. They did more of a singing than fighting. But still, very nostalgic (look at this stuff, isnt it neat?). Apart from all the returning characters from the previous game. There were also some new ones! here's one. JACK SPARROW! savvy?

KH2 also brought in some new gameplay features such as combination attacks with your party members. seeing Sora and Jack do their thang against enemies. Amazing! Also Gummi Ship designing are better. I spent days crafting Gummi Ships in KH. They were made even better here. I wish they would make a game entirely on Gummi Ship designing. I like the final battle too.

Overall, KH2 made it to the list because of it brought Nostalgia, fantasy scenes (Squall and Cloud fighting side by side? SquareGasm!) amazing gameplay, top it off with side-gameplay features such as the Gummi Ship Making.

9. Shadow Of The Colossus

At the start of the game you see a Wanderer traveling into a shrine on horseback. Upon arriving the wanderer rest the body of a dead woman on top of a stone bed. And he begin s negotiating with Dormin, a mysterious disembodied entity, to bring the woman back to life. Dormin agrees but in order for him to do so, 16 colossi must be slain. So you play as the wanderer together with his loyal horse, Agro, set out and kill 16 colossi.

This game has a very unique gameplay. I would dub this game's genre as an Action/Puzzle Game as each colossus you have to kill is sort of a puzzle. As you have to exploit their weakspots and find a way to get there and stab the hell out of it. Example, a colossus with a club, so you trick him into smashing the ground and you run up his club, up to his arm and up his head to his weakspot.

This game is also where I learned that the plural for colossus is colossi.

This game is fairly short, it works on a formula, Track the colossus' location - go there by horseback - Kill the colossus - repeat.

I really like this game because of its simplicity, there are no goons or sub-bosses there is just you and 16 colossi that you have to solve how to kill (actually 15, because the first one was a tutorial colossus). The story is simple too, you need to kill 16 motherhumpers to revive the girl, there's a plot twist at the end but hey it was simple for the most part of the game. The visuals are top-notch as well tough it suffers from frame-rate lagging in some of the graphicsy animations, it doesnt affect the gameplay much. The graphics is still superb and tops even some of the games in the current-gen.

8. Katamari Damacy

You play as the Prince of Cosmos. And it is your job to clean up after the King of Cosmos. The King fucks up bigtime and in some stupid turn of events, he manages to destroy all stars in the universe. So it is your job to go to the earth and collect materials to be made as stars. You collect this by rolling a katamari. A ball that everything sticks too. The gameplay is simple but weird.

You are given a target size, you start out with a starting size and you work your way to the target size given the time limit. So like I said you roll a katamari and EVERYTHING will stick to it. Think of it as a snowball, only its not just snow its EVERYTHING. So as your katamari gets bigger you'll be able to roll up bigger things. Eventually from rolling up people, you'll be able to roll up cars, then later, buildings, then later giant squids, maybe later, islands.

And whats great about this is all the other themes of the game is as messed up as the gameplay. The soundtrack is amazingly fucked up and the physics as well. Even the cutscenes are weird, There is no doubt in my mind that the people were shroomin' when they made the intro fmv of this game. And this is what makes it great! hahahaha I have nothing else to say. I think you have to play this in order to understand what I mean. ROYAL RAINBOW!

7. Devil May Cry

2 MILLENIA AGO. THE LEGENDARY DARK KNIGHT SPARDA. BETRAYED HIS FELLOW DEMONS FOR THE SAKE OF THE HUMAN WORLD. THEN SPARDA SEALED THE DEMON WORLD TO PREVENT THEM FROM TAKING OVER THE HUMAN WORLD. THEN SPARDA HUMPED A HUMAN AND THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN. yada yada yada epic talk yada yada yada

You play as Dante one of the sons of the legendary Dark Knight Sparda, and owner of a shop called Devil May Cry where people enlist his help to slay demons. Dante, is approached by Trish to come to Mallet Island where there is a Demon Uprising led by the Demon Lord Mundus, the very same Demon Lord, his father dethroned and slayed and sealed in the demon world. Apparently the demons are breaking out and its up to Dante to save the Human World the same way his father did.

This game is dubbed to be an Extreme Combat Action game wherein the hero fights hordes of enemies at once. In parallel to Dante's cool and cocky persona the gameplay grants points and rewards depending on how stylish or cool you finish off an opponent. Repeat moves over and over again and you are done for. You are armed with guns with unlimited ammo but the real offense comes from your melee weapons, which could either be your sword, or later a fire-gauntlets for hand-to-hand fighting.


I am such a fan of this installment of the game, DMC2 and DMC3 wasn't as good as DMC1 in my books. When I heard that they were going to make DMC4 to be more of a DMC1 style of game I pre-ordered the game and got it as soon as it arrived on philippine shores! I like tha game because of the angas-factor it brings to the play. Everytime you kill a group of enemies with different combinations, it makes you say "angas!" and I cant translate that to english. Neither can you! NOR YOU! NOT ANYONE!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

6. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty

How can you not like a game with a title like that? Yehp Metal Gear, one of the most epic series of games ever. I will actually require myself to buy a PS3 just to play the fourth MGS game.

The story revolves around on a lot of conspiracies on top of conspiracies on top of more fictional political storyline conspiracies that are too much too enumerate in this post but so awesome to know.

In this game you play as Snake in the first chapter and a rookie agent Raiden for the remaining majority of the game. As Snake you uncover that there is a new-anti nuclear weapon developed and you witness its hi-jack.

As Raiden you discover a massive Nuclear Weapon known as Arsenal gear. And together with some other characters, including snake, you set out and destroy that for the good of humanity.

The real reason why I love this game is because of the story, though the game is really story driven it isnt lacking in gameplay. The game infuses a stealth type game play but not stealthy that it becomes too tactical. Just enough that you are still able to take a bullet or two, or run and gun. Combine that with unique boss fights as well as uncanny characters with enough backstory to make another game. MGS2 makes it in my list despite me hating games that are stealthy and tactical.

Maybe a case of Reverse Insomnia

For the past few days I've been sleeping A LOT. Thursday, I slept around 3pm in the afternoon woke up around 1am, missing dinner. Couldn't get back to sleep anymore so I decided to sit through the dark morning. So I had a lot to do anyways, I caught up with purepwnage with their latest episode. Tried to write a few jokes, worlking towards a tight 15 minutes. Tried playing COD online again. By the time people in the house started waking up I was tired again. But I told myself, "sayang yung oras" So I remained awake. Played some DS (pokemon lol). Tried to order some more games for my Wii, turns out the next shipment of Mario Galaxy wont be here til next week. Pretty much kept myself busy until the afternoon

5pm. Friday. I slept again. I asked people to wake me up around dinner time but when I woke up. None of them were awake anymore. It was 2am, I think and I missed dinner again. wait. I did miss dinner again. For some reason, Instead of going down and fixing myself up a meal. I slept again. When I woke up an hour later, I chose to sleep again. and again and again until 5am. I think I had about half a dozen dreams, in full color. ALL ABOUT FOOD. Waffles, Ice Cream, Penny-Brown, Skippers, Ham and Cheese Sandwiches... I cant remember.

anyways I decided to blog about it since I dont have anything to do. I'm waiting for breakfast. plus I need time to get my mind of Penny-fucking-Brown that my friend is the Devil's Dessert. If you haven't tried it... DONT its MEAN its HORRIBLE it will bring out your inner Glutton. Oh well the more I rant about it, the more I want a Strawberry Ice Cream sandwich. SONOFA ah basta.

Anyways I think I'll be blogging a lot of things to pass time.
