Everybody should watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, another successful direct to internet release

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (Time Magazine's Top 15th Invention of 2008) shows how powerful the creative mind is coupled with the networking strength of the internet.

Being a fan of How I Met Your Mother and The Guild, I found out that the leads in both these shows are doing a Direct-to-Web episodical movie.

This is a very-low-budget-yet-high-quality film which was penned during the recent WGA writers strike of 07-08. The idea was to create something small and inexpensive, yet professionally done, in a way that would circumvent the issues that were being protested during the strike.

The output is Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, inspired by the success of The Guild, Joss Whedon manifested the idea with the intention of creating Internet Content, and make it successful and of high quality, without a studio or a big name backing this.

So together with his brother and fiancee, Joss lead and assembled the cast, made the music, looked for locations and all that jazz.

The Cast (who all agreed to do it for FREE)

Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser MD, How I Met Your Mother) as Dr. Horrible, the up and coming supervillain trying to get in an elite group of supervillains

Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Guild) as Penny, the love of Dr. Horrible's life, a devoted humanitarian seeking signatures for the construction of a homeless shelter.

Nathan Fillion (Firefly, One Life To Live) as Captain Hammer, Dr. Horrible's superhero nemesis

Premise

The movie is a musical that shows the events involving Dr. Horrible (Harris), and his attempts to make it into the Evil League of Evil, an elite supervillain group. At the same time win the love of his life, Penny (Day) from his arch-enemy Captain Hammer (Fillion).

Short Review

The Music and production are done well. The movie had its share of funny moments. The Actors (who performed the music themselves) were very good, though Felicia Day could use some more voice synching lessons.

Overall it is a very very decent film. WITH A VERY NICE SURPRISING ENDING. Up to now I am still shocked with the ending!

I'll post a more in depth review soon.

NOW you guys should watch it. I dont care how, Torrent it or somethin.
